SPOTLIGHT ON THE PIONEERS
Attyat Sayed, Untitled, oil on canvas, 130 x 170 cm - Courtesy Picasso Art Gallery (Cairo)
The
history of women artists in the Middle East and North Africa is a
remarkable artistic journey, characterized by periods of great
creativity and innovation, yet also by considerable social and cultural
hurdles. Despite these challenges, these artistic trailblazers found
the strength to assert themselves, using their voices to contribute to
the artistic landscape of their societies and beyond. They turned art
into a powerful cry of resistance, a call for social change, and a
vibrant celebration of life.
Women's art is a magnificent tribute!
