Menart Fair, international modern and contemporary art fair founded in 2021 by Laure d’Hauteville, is dedicated to highlighting artists from the Levant, the Arabian Gulf and North Africa through a rigorous selection of leading galleries.
Since its launch, Menart Fair has acted as a catalyst for a burgeoning art scene, whose dense and solid output is supported by a number of renowned museums and institutions.
For its 5th edition, held from 20 to 22 September 2024 in the heart of the Marais district of Paris, Menart Fair focused exclusively on the female art scene in the MENA region (Middle East, North Africa), examining the legacy of pioneering women artists and highlighting contemporary and emerging creators.
This 100% all-female event goes far beyond the question of ‘gender’ to raise visitors’ awareness of the richness and importance of this artistic scene in the Arab-Persian regions, which is often overlooked in the West. The event welcomed some thirty galleries, including some focusing on design. Four renowned curators have been appointed for each region represented.
The Galerie Joseph Saint Merri, a vast space in the Marais district that formerly housed the Musée Pierre Cardin, was the setting for this year’s edition.
The programme included panel discussions, encounters, a video programme and the participation of MENA museums and institutions to enhance this unique artistic experience.
